Hello Year 4.2 Robins!
My name is Sephorah Saliba and I live in Siġġiewi with my husband.
I have graduated from University of Malta in 2009 and this year, it will be my eleventh year teaching. I have taught at Qormi San Ġorġ Primary School for three years and seven years here at Siġġiewi Primary School. In fact, I have been a student here when I was your age 🙂
My favourite hobbies are making crafts, cake decorating, watching TV, gardening and reading. I have always wanted to become a teacher from when I was a little girl.
I’m sure that you will enjoy yourself this year and that you will learn a lot of new and exciting material! Should you need any help, do not hesitate to contact me here or at school. Please do let me know if you have any suggestions to make our Year 4.2 better 🙂

hi Ms Sephorah
its jaymee’s mum can i please ask if you can explain to jaymee when you have 800 how you make one less and one more as what ever method i am using she is not understanding me
thank you
Hi,
Learning how to make one less and one more is something which the children need to learn through drilling and practice. Instead of 800, explain that she should think of 100 and then, find out the numbers which are 1 less and 1 more (something which she should know already). These numbers: 99 and 101 should be then used to help her arrive to the answers of 799 and 801.
Maybe a number chart such as this one I’m attaching here might help her more to visualize the numbers in order. http://rpdp.net/admin/images/uploads/resource_8360.pdf
She can use it a bit now until she gets the gist of it but obviously, she cannot depend on it.
Regards,
Ms. Sephorah
